Which treatment fits the concern?

For patients comparing cosmetic care in New York, start with the concern: an expression line, a change in volume, persistent pigment, or an unwanted lesion. Similar-looking concerns can need different approaches.

Lines and changes in facial volume

Botox addresses muscle activity that contributes to expression lines. Hyaluronic-acid fillers address selected areas of volume loss or contour. These treatments serve different purposes; the choice depends on the facial anatomy and the change being considered.

Kybella is another injectable option, used for fullness beneath the chin when fat is the concern. It does not address every cause of a fuller jawline or loose skin.

Pigment, visible vessels and texture

Laser and light treatments can address selected pigmentation, vascular and texture concerns. The device and settings need to suit the skin and the condition being treated. Deeper skin tones require particular attention to the risk of pigment changes.

Microneedling is another approach for selected texture and scarring concerns. It uses fine needles rather than light or heat. The individual procedure pages explain treatment considerations and recovery in more detail.

Unwanted lesions and scars

Cosmetic removal of moles, cysts, lipomas, and skin tags is planned around the lesion and its location. Split or stretched earlobes are repaired. Any surgical removal leaves a wound that heals with a scar; the technique and closure are part of planning its appearance.

Acne scars also vary. Tethered rolling scars, individual deep scars and surface texture can call for different techniques, sometimes combined or staged. A photograph of one result does not establish which approach is appropriate for another patient.

Her surgical work includes Mohs surgery and reconstruction. That background is particularly relevant when cosmetic care involves removing a lesion, revising a scar or repairing an earlobe. Treatment choice still depends on the individual concern and examination.

What you can expect

  • An assessment of the concern. The first visit includes an examination and a discussion of the change you are considering.
  • A discussion of options. The procedure you arrive asking about may not be the most suitable approach. Treatment planning includes considering alternatives.
  • Clarity about the next step. Consultation and procedure fees are separate. The booking page explains the current appointment terms.

Frequently asked questions

How do I choose a cosmetic dermatologist in New York?
Ask who performs the treatment, check the physician's relevant training, and review examples of the work you are considering. The assessment should also explain the procedure's limitations and whether a different approach would be more suitable. Dr. Tzu's biography and patient galleries are linked on this page.
Who performs the treatments?
Dr. Julia Tzu personally performs injectable and laser treatments at Wall Street Dermatology.
What does triple board-certified mean?
Dr. Tzu holds board certifications in dermatology, dermatopathology, and micrographic dermatologic surgery. Her full education, fellowship training and credentials are listed on the About page.
What matters for treatment in deeper skin tones?
Some procedures, including certain lasers, can cause pigment changes. The treatment and settings need to be selected for the individual skin and concern. Suitability is assessed before a procedure is chosen.
What if the procedure I want is not suitable?
The examination and discussion help establish whether it can address your concern. A different approach, staged treatment or no procedure may be appropriate.
