Split Earlobe Repair

Earlobes can be reconstructed surgically after a split occurs within the earlobe due to a traumatic tear, usually from wearing earrings. The procedure involves excision of the older scar tissue, followed by suturing of the remaining freshened tissue edges.   Precise alignment of the tissue must be achieved in order to restore the original contour of the earlobe.  Split earlobe repair is considered a cosmetic procedure and is not covered by insurance.
